Field to Fork - a Taste of Tatton

And of course don’t miss out on the chance to find out how the food was prepared and cooked within our neo-classical Mansion’s kitchen and servant quarters. Across the estate there’s lots of exciting and interactive ways for you to learn more about this story of sustainability:
- Go on a fascinating food journey as you explore field to fork trails within the Parkland and Gardens
- Imagine the hive of activity in our Mansion kitchens as the aroma of bread in the bakehouse and cheese in the dairy carries through the air
- Learn fascinating facts about the food varieties in our Orchard and Walled Kitchen Garden.
Field to Fork at the Farm
The centrepiece of our Field to Fork story is a £1.3million Heritage Lottery Fund investment in the Farm which launched in July 2018. Our atmospheric Mill has been painstakingly restored, its fascinating story told through the voice of the Miller amongst the grinding and turning of original machinery lovingly brought back to life. You’ll have the opportunity to hear intriguing soundscapes in our original slaughterhouse, witness exciting food demonstrations such as cheese and butter making, and meet colourful characters from centuries ago - don’t be late for an interview with Mr Wiglesworth, the Land Agent! And of course meet the stars of the show - our rare breed animals, including Leicester Longwool sheep, Tamworth pigs, and Clydesdale horses - to name but a few!
