Assistant Park Ranger
Tatton Park requires an Assistant Park Ranger to be part of a critical team looking after the 2000 acre historic Tatton Park estate. This person will assist in all aspects of estate operations and related visitor management in order to deliver consistent and effective visitor services. Reporting to the Estate Rangers, the role involves working a shift pattern including regular weekends.
Undertake all aspects of visitor management in order to deliver consistent and effective visitor services. Undertake all aspects of stock management in order to ensure the health and good condition of Tatton’s livestock. Provide support and assistance with the implementation and delivery of educational/interpretive programmes and events in order to maximise the quality of experience for visitors and parties. Implement programmes of events and activities, both informal and structured, to encourage participation in countryside recreation and leisure activities. Carry out work programmes and land management operations to ensure that all aspects of the estate and its’ premises are managed to the highest standards of presentation and maintenance, including toilets, visitor areas, car parks, stable yard, roads, paths, footways, etc. Implement management policies, operational procedures and regulations to ensure the security of the estate and the health and safety of visitors, staff and livestock. Maintain and store vehicles, repair machinery, equipment and materials to ensure that they are operated, utilised and maintained to high standards of safety and efficiency. Assist with Duty Ranger functions when required including cash transport, security of the estate and response to incidents, in order to ensure the highest standards of delivery of Tatton’s Visitor Services. Maintain records and submit reports where required in order to provide effective communication of information to colleagues and management. The job holder may be required at any time to under take any work up to and/or at a level consistent with existing responsibilities.

An opportunity to work at the Farm at Tatton Park helping to care for all our rare breed animals, including poultry, pigs, cows, horses, sheep and goats. You will also get chance to help with the annual events and daily demonstrations that we regularly hold throughout the year.
To assist the Farm Team in all aspects of the management of livestock, and visitors. Carry out routine animal husbandry tasks in order to present the Farm’s livestock to the highest standards of husbandry and wellbeing. Assist with daily visitor services in order to maximise the enjoyment of visitors to the Home Farm. In conjunction with the Farm staff, to carry out interpretive, educational and information programmes in order to maximise the quality of experience and enjoyment of visitors and parties. To carry out work programmes and agricultural operations to ensure that all aspects of the premises and agricultural land is managed to the highest standards of safety, presentation and maintenance.
Wage - Competitive salary
Working week - 40 hours Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00, with regular breaks. Just working one weekend per month and time off in the week for lieu of working the weekend will be given.
Expected duration -18 months

The Person- Desired Skills
Good timekeeping skills. Enjoy working outside in all weathers. Be fit and strong. Looking to build a career in the agriculture industry. Sociable and able to work both alone and in a team.
Desired qualifications GCSEs in English and maths or equivalent are desirable however not essential as Functional Skills are offered as part of the Apprenticeship.
Future prospects - Currently no permanent vacancy on the Farm but other work i.e. seasonal ranger is available annually at Tatton. All our past apprentices have gone on to full-time employment.
Training provider - REASEHEATH COLLEGE
Reaseheath Training will be the apprenticeship provider for the Level 2 Stockperson apprenticeship standard, which includes: Functional Skills in maths, English & ICT (if required). Tatton Park will give guidance and support throughout. Off-the-job training must make up at least 20% of the apprentice’s contracted hours, over the total duration of the apprentice’s planned training period.
