A delightful day in Tatton’s summer gardens, bringing you traditional Japanese festival activities in collaboration with The Japanese Embassy and JETAA UK (JET Alumni Association United Kingdom). This charming event takes place on the lawn near the Japanese Garden and newly planted Cherry Tree Walk.
Be inspired by traditional Japanese live performances of Koto (Japanese Harp) musician, demonstrations of shodo (calligraphy), ikebana (flower arranging) and kimono (traditional garment) tying. Children and craft-loving grown-ups can try their hand at origami (the art of paper folding), wind chime making and tying wishes to a Tanabata wish tree.
Guided Japanese Tours will run at 11:30am and 1:30pm and tickets can be booked at the Garden entrance on the day (subject to availability, maximum 6 people per tour, minimum 12 years of age) at £5 per person.
The Mini Matsuri event will take place in the Gardens from 11am - 3pm. See timetable of activities at the garden entrance on the day.
The Mini Matsuri event is included in the price of standard Garden entry: £8 adult, £6 child, free for National Trust members.
Please book Garden tickets for Saturday 14th August in advance to avoid disappointment.
