Calling all young ornithologists! Help our feathered friends during the winter months. Make some natural bird-feeders with pine cones, apples and dried berries to take home. Bring your binoculars as you explore the woodland and see what birdlife you can spot!

Viking Morning

Beware all who enter the Old Hall, for who will you discover at the Viking settlement? A fun-filled morning exploring Viking life, including outdoor cooking, storytelling, shelter building and animal tracking.

Ever thought you could survive in the wilderness? Build a shelter in the woodland, track wild animals, play games of stealth and find out where wild foods can be found.

Myth and Magic Morning

Monday 4th August, 10.30am-12.30pm. £12. Suitable for 8-12 years.

Travel back to the Dark Ages, a time of legend and magic. Hear fantastic tales, explore the amazing power of plants and try your hand at making scented bag to take away. Make a wand to take home and practice your spells.

A Day in the Life of a Victorian Servant. New for 2014

Wednesday 6th August, 10am-12.30pm. £10. Suitable for 8-12 years.

Step back in time to the Victorian era and join Mrs Cork, Housekeeper to Earl Egerton as a servant in this grand house. Get involved in the day to day running of the mansion - including polishing, making beds, baking scones, scrubbing floors. Explore the mansion and see how much work there is to be done and what life was like living in a grand house.

Junior Longbow

Thursday 7th August, 10.30am-12pm. £16. Suitable for 8-17 years.

Young people from Medieval times would practise the art of longbow. Join us at the atmospheric Old Hall, try longbow, put on armour and live the life of an archer.

Boredom Busters Nature Day

Wednesday 13th August, 10am-1pm. £6. Minimum age 5 years.

Join the Rangers to hunt for mini-beasts in the park’s ponds and woodlands and take a trailer ride to get a close look at Tatton’s deer. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tales from Tatton Dance, Drama and Song Workshop. New for 2014

Friday 15th August, 10am-2.15pm, £23. Suitable for age 4-8 years.

Using exciting historical tales from Tatton as inspiration, our professional dance and drama tutors, Alison and Becci from LIPA 4:19 Knutsford, will lead a fun and creative day of dance, drama and song. Adults are invited to a performance to finish the day.

Defence through the Ages

Thursday 21st August, 10.30am-12.30pm. £10. Minimum age 8 years.

Your country needs you! Join our guides at the Old Hall to explore personal and national defence and daily life throughout history. Build an Anglo-Saxon fort, become a medieval archer and travel back to World War II to practice your rifle drill. A great activity for all the family.

Young Poet’s Workshop: Ghosts in the Garden. New for 2014

Wednesday 29th October, 10am-2.30pm. £16. Suitable for 8-12 years.

Calling all budding poets and storytellers! Join children’s poet Matt Goodfellow for a day of spooky poetry writing inspired by Tatton’s Ghosts in the Garden and all things Halloween. Have fun with words as you write, perform, share and enjoy poetry, exploring with Matt: metaphor, rhyme, imagery and drafting. Bring a packed lunch.
