Tatton Park celebrates Beatrix Potter this summer with an exhibition featuring some of her rare watercolours and an enchanting programme of family events and activities

Mansion Events

23 March – 1 September

Some of Beatrix Potter's finest watercolours are on display in the Amber Bedroom of the Mansion. In addition :there will be storytelling in the Library at weekends and a Mrs Tiggywinkle trail for younger visitors to follow. Please note that the watercolours are on view in the Amber Bedroom upstairs in the Mansion, prints are available to view on an iPad in the ground floor.

Gardens Events

23 March – 1 September

The Rose Garden tea house is showcasing botanical illustrations and there is a chance to get creative with pens and paper using the seasonal flowers and foliage as inspiration. Follow the Peter Rabbit trail round the different areas of the Gardens

Jemima and the Gentleman23 March – 1 September

There is a fascinating exhibition showing the other side of Beatrix Potter's creativity and genius – her immense contribution to conservation in countryside and farming. In particular, she was integral to the conservation of the rare breed Herdwick sheep.

Saturday 30 March – Monday 1 April - Easter with Beatrix Potter
Come and find Mrs Tiggywinkle, Peter Rabbit and their friends in the Mansion, Gardens and Farm. Beatrix Potter's characters will be popping up in the Stableyard shows, there is also the Easter crafts and country shopping fair to enjoy.

Aimed at 4 – 8 year olds, take an interactive journey of discovery in Tatton's Gardens to hear tales of Beatrix Potter's best loved characters

Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 June - Pigling Bland Weekend at the Farm
The Tale of Pigling Bland was published 100 years ago in the year that Beatrix Potter married and settled down to the farming life, sketching her pigs in their own setting for the story. She kept one little black pig as a pet and based "perfectly lovely" Pigwig in the story on her.

Friday 31st May - Beatrix Potter Dance, Drama and Song Workshop*  :  10.00am - 2.15pm : £23.00
Using the magical tales of Beatrix Potter as inspiration, our professional dance and drama tutors, Alison and Becci from LIPA 4:19, will lead a fun and creative day of dance, drama and singing. Adults are invited to a performance to finish the day.

Saturday 15 June - Peter's Tea Party* : 10.00am - 12.00pm  : £20.00
Baking activities and story telling for children, adults are invited later to sample the culinary delights. Max age 12 years.

Saturday 15 June - Watercolour Workshop*  :  10.00am - 4.00pm  : £30.00

Join our guide in the Gardens for storytelling, pick your own fruit and vegetables to create dishes inspired by Beatrix Potter's tales, cook them in the Mansion to take home and enjoy. Max age 12 years.

Sunday 21st July - Beatrix Potter's Hill Top Garden Talk*  : 11.00am - 2.00pm  : £35.00
Join Peter Tasker, National Trust Gardener in Charge at Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's much loved Lakeland Cottage. Gain a unique insight into the setting which inspired many of her beautiful illustrations. Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in the luxurious Lord Egerton's Apartment and explore the Mansion and Gardens at your leisure.

Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 July - Beatrix Potter Rare Breeds Weekend at the Farm
Look at her legacy in rare breed farming alongside Tatton Farm's own work in conserving rare breeds. Beatrix Potter helped to conserve Herdwick sheep which even in the 1920s were under threat from breeds with softer fleeces and more productive lambs; she also left 14 farms and 4000 acres to the National Trust after she died

Mr McGregor is searching for Peter Rabbit and his friends in our maize maze, can you find them before he does? Meet Sally Hennypenny’s chicks and ducklings daily in our hatchery and take part in the Beatrix Potter quiz

Join our expert craft guild guides at the Old Hall for an introduction to Victorian cottage crafts inspired by the tales of Beatrix Potter. Min age 8 years.
