Tatton scoops yet another award for being Cheshire's Best Large Visitor Attraction
Tatton Park was named Cheshire’s Large Visitor Attraction 2014 in last week’s prestigious 10th Marketing Cheshire Annual Awards.
This comes on the back of success this summer at VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2014 when Tatton was named best Large Visitor Attraction in England.
The best of Cheshire and Warrington’s tourism businesses gathered at Chester Racecourse when over 380 guests enjoyed a glamorous evening of fine dining and entertainment hosted by Andy Bailey.
The Marketing Cheshire Annual Awards celebrate excellence and outstanding achievement among local businesses with more than 50 individuals, initiatives and businesses competing across 14 categories. The winners of several categories will go on to represent Cheshire at the national Visit England Awards for Excellence in 2015.
Councillor Les Gilbert, Cheshire East Council Cabinet member in charge of localism and enforcement, said “This is yet another fantastic achievement and extremely well deserved. Tatton is a national treasure and one that Cheshire East is exceptionally proud of.”
The news is particularly welcomed as continued recognition of the impact the Tatton Park Vision is having on the Park’s success and the enjoyment of its visitors. It is over two years ago that Tatton Park embarked on the Vision, its five year plan to substantially develop its visitor experiences by increasing the attractions and activities on offer.
By 2016/17 it is expected that one million visitors a year will visit Tatton Park and enjoy these experiences.
Brendan Flanagan, Visitor Economy, Culture & Tatton Park Manager
commented “This award recognises the sheer quality of our attraction and the contribution we make to Cheshire East. In particular it acknowledges the fact that we work hard to constantly develop the experiences that can be enjoyed here whilst ensuring the integrity of our heritage, conservation and culture is maintained. As importantly, the award recognises our staff, their dedication, commitment and focus on making Tatton a very special place for over 800,000 visitors a year.”
Katrina Michel, Chief Executive, Marketing Cheshire said:
“The awards are about celebrating all that is wonderful about the tourism industry in Cheshire. The quality of award submissions were so high our judges had a really tough job on their hands selecting the winners. We are privileged to be able to list so many stand-out venues, brands and experiences on offer in the sub-region."
