Group Tours

Different tours are available at each attraction.

Groups are free to explore by themselves without a guide during normal opening hours in the Mansion, Gardens, Farm and Parkland.

Alternatively, for an extra charge groups can book one of the following special tour packages:


Guided Tour:       An animated historical tour led by a Tatton expert.

Themed Tour:     Historical costumed tours on a range of aspects covering social history.


Booking Details
Maximum number of visitors per tour is 25 at any one time for visitor enjoyment. Larger parties will be split and will require one guide per group. See Booking Information for details.


Mansion

The grandeur of the staterooms, with the original furnishings and paintings of the Egertons, contrasts with the austerity of the servants’ quarters. A visit gives a true picture of a well ordered, sophisticated country house. A number of special interest tours are available on art, antiques and ceramics. Details on request.

Guided Tour
This offers an insight into Victorian family life, highlighting the splendour of the Card Room and Entrance Hall to the warmth of the Music Room and Library. It is completed with a visit to the servants’ quarters and Victorian kitchens.

 

Themed Tour

Choose from: Putting The House To Bed, Hidden Treasures, or Costumed Butler and Housekeeper Tours.

Gardens

Enjoy the year-round colour of Tatton’s award-winning gardens. The many different aspects of the garden combine to represent over 200 years of garden design and history.

Guided Tour

The Gardens feature plants from around the world. Your guide will highlight garden aspects including the Japanese Garden - the best example of its kind in Europe - and the Walled Kitchen Garden - an ongoing restoration project growing fruit and vegetables using traditional skills and processes. 

Booking Details

Tours can be arranged Tuesday to Sunday 10.30am to 3.30pm throughout the year. Tours last 1 ½ hours. Please note that the tour involves a reasonable amount of walking.


Old Hall

The Old Hall is Tatton’s hidden gem. All visits require a guide and group tours will include artefacts not usually on public view.

Guided Tour

The tour starts in the smoky shadows of the 15th century Great Hall and progresses through the centuries to a 1950s estate worker’s cottage.

Themed Tour

Choose from: The Landscape, Open Fire Cooking, How Light Has Changed Our Lives, The Way We Were, Remember The Wash Day and Our Daily Bread.

Booking Details

Guided tours can be booked from March to September subject to availability. Tours last 1 hour.


Farm

The Farm provides a picture of rural life where time has stood still.

Guided Tour

The tour focuses on the agricultural and social history of the 1930s and 1940s and introduces groups to the rare breed animals on the farm.

Themed Tour

Take a look at Tatton’s role in World War II from a Land Girl’s point of view.

Booking Details

Guided tours are available year-round Tuesday to Friday from 12.00 noon to 4.00pm. Tours last 1 – 1 ½ hours. 


Parkland

Tatton Park’s Rangers offer full or half day tours of the estate, primarily teaching about deer management, how deer have altered the park landscape and how to track them. There are also general environmental tours covering Tatton’s rich wildlife and vegetation.

Booking Details

Guided tours can be booked on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Speciality Shops

Tatton’s unique shops reflect the character of the estate and are a reason in themselves to visit the park. Special discounts are available in the shops when two or more groups are booked and ‘Picked-and-Packed Gifts’ can be pre-booked.

The Housekeeper’s Store sells produce from the estate and local suppliers.

Tatton Gifts sells unusual and imaginative items reflecting Tatton Park’s history.

For sale in the Garden Shop are plants, fruit and vegetables from the Gardens.


 

Christmas

Christmas is a magical time at Tatton Park. Festivities are centred around the Mansion which recreates the festive scene when the Egerton family lived here in the 19th century. The Gardens provide a wonderful outdoor option and Tatton's shops are stocked with Christmas Gift ideas and festive fayre.
