Tatton Park plays host to a wide range of public events during the year. Our annual calendar offers a broad variety of events and includes antique fairs, classic car shows, flower shows, spectacular outdoor concerts and Christmas events.
Details of confirmed events up to Christmas 2010 are given below. This list is updated weekly as new events are confirmed. You can also download a copy of the latest annual Events Guide

For most events the Park's entry charge applies. This charge includes admission to the deer park and adventure playground.
Please note: National Trust members are required to pay for entry into special events and car entry to the Park.

Saturday February 13th - Sunday 21st (closed Mon 15th) Scarecrow Festival
Stone the Crows! Tatton's Scarecrow Festival returns to the Gardens for half term. Naughty squirrels have stolen the Scarecrow Gardeners' tools. Follow a quiz to find the scarecrow gardeners and the missing tools!

Saturday March 27th to Monday May 3rd Cultivate and Celebrate. Treasures of the Kitchen Garden exhibition
Inspired by the Kitchen Garden, artist in residence Christine Wilcox Baker explores the relationship between the gardens at Tatton and its Mansion kitchens. Drawings, photographs, paintings and mixed media installations sited in both the Gardens and the Mansion will portray kitchen garden produce as items to be celebrated, treasured and cared for.

Presenter Fiona Bruce and the team of leading antiques and fine arts specialists will be available for free advice and valuations. Friday May 28th Champagne and Flowers
An exclusive evening gardening event and a rare opportunity to enjoy Tatton's gardens in the early summer at its seasonal best for Rhododendron and Azaleas. Enjoy a glass of champagne and a tour of the gardens by one of Tatton's craftsmen gardeners. Then take your table in the Lord Egerton's Apartment in Tatton's Mansion where you will enjoy a three course dinner created using locally grown and sourced foods. If you have begun your family tree research this lecture is ideal for you. Gay Oliver and Alan Bennett, from the Family History Society of Cheshire, provide their top tips, including how to overcome research problems you may have encountered. Three caskets of gold, silver and lead, a pound of flesh to be taken from nearest the heart of a merchant of Venice by Shylock, a vengeful usurer, masquerades, a beautiful heiress who disguises herself as a man and solves everyone's problems and a lovely Jewess who escapes the clutches of her farther during a Venetian Carnival are all in the famous Shakespearean comedy.Theatre Set Up produce the play in the light of the Cabbala Tree of Life, costuming in the 18th century Venetian Carnival-style dress with musicby Mozart.

Sunday July 4th Illyria Outdoor Theatre at the Old Hall James and the Giant Peach - by Roald Dahl, adapted by David Wood
Illyria brings the world's most popular children's author, Roald Dahl, to the open-air stage. James is an orphan who is sent to live with his two terrible aunts. But when the peach tree in the garden sprouts a single peach which grows and grows and grows, James befriends some very peculiar insects, breaks free from the clutches of his aunts and embarks on the adventure of a lifetime. Now in its 11th year. Saturday August 14th Illyria Outdoor Theatre Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare
Shakespeare states in the opening 10 lines of this play that it is an explosive swashbuckling romance witha thrilling storylineand more laughs than tears. The Montagus and the Capulets are at war with one another - but when Montagu's son falls in love with Capulet's daughter at a party a chain-reaction of events is set in motion which has a devastating conclusion. Illyria last performed this terrific play 10 years ago; the production was Critic's Choice in Edinburgh, attracted 5-star reviews in Canada and received a nomination for Best of Fringe in Vancouver.

From Samuel Egerton's apprenticeship in Venice in the 1730's to Alan de Tatton Egerton's trips to Genoa in the 20th century, the Egerton family have visited Italy, furnished their homes, purchased artworks and books and even designed a formal garden very much in the Italian style.Whether visiting as part of the Grand Tour or on business, genteel families have absorbed and reinterpreted the art and culture of Italy in their 'country houses' throughout the centuries.Find out how this is reflected at Tatton park in a lecture by Caroline Schofield and Sam Youd on the Italian Connections - The Egertons and Italy

North West Food Lovers Festival Tatton Park Friday October 22nd to Sunday October 24th
Taste buds across the region are set to be tantalised as the North West Food Lovers Festival arrives at Tatton Park from the 22nd to 24th October, 2010. The festival, which will showcase the very best of ‘North-Westness’, will encompass two weeks of ‘foodie’ events involving restaurants and fine food stores in the area, with the highlight of the fortnight being the Taste Festival at Tatton Park. Over 120 delicious food and drink stalls will offer a fantastic range of top quality regional produce to see, taste and buy. Tickets are on sale now.
