The Cheese Counter
It is our policy in the Housekeeper’s Store to source the finest cheeses from the British Isles for our customers and to present them in the best possible conditions.
Every week our aim is to have cheeses from all four countries in the UK and to have a range of hard, soft and flavour-added cheeses as well as cheeses from cow’s, ewe’s and goat’s milk. Many of the cheeses we stock are suitable for vegetarians and some are unpasteurised. We are particularly keen to showcase local North West cheeses and always stock Cheshire cheese!

| Barbers 1833 Extra Reserve Cheddar |
An exquisite cheddar made in Somerset. This cheese matures for 24 months. |
| Burland Green |
An Organic Brie with a lovely golden colour and a deep aroma of mushrooms. A local Cheshire cheese made at Ravens Oak Dairy at Nantwich. |
| Heler's White Cheshire |
Made at Laurel Farm in Hatherton, Nantwich, in the centre of the Cheshire plain. The salt-bearing rock strata gives this Cheshire cheese its distinctive flavour. Heler's White is made from the milk of the farm's pwn Holstein Friesian herd. |
| Heler's Blue Cheshire |
Blue Cheshire is extremely rare. This is creamy, crumbly and gorgeous. Eat as is comes or delicious in a pasta sauce! |
| Delamere Distinctive |
A wonderful hard goat's cheese made in Lancashire, with the milk of a local Knutsford herd.

A creamy white Cheshire, flavoured with spring onion.

| Harlech |
From Abergavenny, this wonderful cheese is flavoured with horseradish and parsley, creating a hot, peppery flavour, mellowed by the cheddar.

| Organic Creamy Lancashire |
A buttery, moist cheese which melts in the mouth, from a dairy at Barton north of Preston. The milk comes from 4 farms underneath Beacon Fell. This is one of our most popular cheeses, appealing to all age groups. |
| Isle of Mull |
From Sgriob-Ruadh farm in Tobermory , this is a cheddar-type cheese, mature in nature and with a hint of parsley and coriander. |
| Spenwood |
A hard-pressed, mature, ewe’s milk cheese with a natural rind, it has a full-bodied firm, texture with a subtle, nutty flavour. |
| Stilton - Blue |
Made in the triangle of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. It is excellent with port and good for cooking and always used to be potted for storage. A regular award-winner . |
| Wensleydale |
A lightly-pressed, smooth cheese, with a subtle, refreshing taste. This is regularly available with, respectively, cranberry, apricot and stem ginger options. |
