The Ranger Team

Tatton Park's Ranger team comprises eight Rangers, a Ranger Team Leader and an Estate Operations Manager. The work undertaken by the team is diverse and covers aspects including stock management of deer and sheep, wildlife monitoring, woodland management, habitat protection, estate maintenance, environmental education, event preparation and visitor management. During the winter months the team is heavily involved in deer management to ensure a healthy, well-structured herd. The herd are fed daily on carrots, grass nuts and haylage when grazing is scarce. It is an impressive sight to see a long line of Red and Fallow deer feeding across the open grassland. Much of the woodland management work is also done during the winter season. The summer sees an increase in the number of visitors and more outdoor events in the park. A greater part of the Ranger team's time is spent on events, education and visitor management.
