The Silk Bedroom and Silk Dressing Room
The Silk Bedroom was one of the principal guest rooms, despite facing north and having a less obviously attractive outlook. Nevertheless, guests could enjoy the splendid view along the avenue known as Lady Mary’s Walk towards the estate village of Rostherne.

The Silk Bedroom was intended to be the finest of the guest rooms, furnished by Gillows with the most fashionable furniture of mahogany inlaid with ebony, most of which is arranged in the room today as it was in 1812. Each bedroom was designed with a dressing room en-suite which was intended for bathing, as well as dressing and a large tin bath on castors could be wheeled around the various dressing rooms as required, in the days before piped water and bathrooms were installed at Tatton.
