Children's Pastimes
Why not try some of these fun activities at home ? ...
Pastime 1
Draw a Character from the Egerton Household
Number of players: 3 (or 4)
What you need:
* A piece for rectangular paper for each player
* Coloured pens or pencils for drawing
* Sticky tape
- Decide amongst your group what sort of character you are going to draw from the Egerton household, whether it is a member of the family such as Lord or Lady Egerton, the Housekeeper, Butler, Gardener or Scullery Maid
- Decide which part of the body each of you is going to draw – one will draw the head, another the body and the third person will draw the legs. If a fourth person is playing they can either draw a hat or feet.
- Draw your part on your own piece of paper but try and hide what you are drawing from the others who are playing! When everyone has finished, tape your parts together and see how your character looks!
Pastime 2
Draw Your Ancestor
What you need:
* A piece of paper
* Coloured pens or pencils for drawing
The Egerton family have owned the Tatton estate since 1598 and their family lived here until the last Lord Egerton died in 1958. Their family tree can be traced back to the first owner of Tatton, Sir Thomas Egerton and we have lots of portraits and pictures of all his ancestors who lived here.
Why not look at your family tree, think about your own ancestors and draw a picture of what you think they may have looked like. Why not draw your Great, Great Grandmother or even your Great, Great, Great Grandmother?!
